What is it used for (Indication) ?
Sumatriptan is a triptan drug for the treatment of migraine headaches. It provides relief in both the headache and other symptoms such as nausea and photophobia.
How it works (Mechanism)?
Sumatriptan is in a class of medications called selective serotonin receptor agonists. It works by narrowing blood vessels in the head and stopping pain signals from being sent to the brain.

How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
The usual dose is 50 mg - 100 mg (in 24 hrs). Do not take more than 200 mg of sumatriptan oral tablets in 24 hours.
Side effects of medicine
This medication is generally well tolerated. Common side effects include sudden nausea, drowsiness, fatigue, swelling of face, skin rash or hives.

If you are using any other medication while taking this medicine such as ergotamine, lithium and MAOIs.

1. If you are hypersensitive to sumatriptan.
2. If you are patient with Ischaemic heart disease.
3. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

5. Not recommended in age above 65 years or paediatrics.
