What is it used for (Indication) ?
It is used to treat mild to moderate symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia.
How it works (Mechanism)?
It is a competitive and reversible cholinesterase inhibitor acts by increasing the concentration of acetylcholine in the brain which helps to relieve symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
- It should be taken in dose of 4 mg or 8 mg twice daily.
- Maximum dose is 24 mg daily.
- It should be taken with the morning and evening meals.
- If dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. Skip the dose if it is almost the time for next dose.
- Do not stop consumption of medication without doctor's consultation.
Side effects of medicine
It may show some common side effects which include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, anorexia and weight loss.

- Anticholinergic like atropine
- Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor like donepezil
- NSAIDS like ibuprofen
- Calcium channel blockers like verapamil
- Cardiac glycoside like digoxin
- Antidepressant like fluoxetine
- Antihypertensive like propranolol, metoprolol
- Antifungals like ketoconazole.
