What is it used for (Indication) ?
It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), cardiac pain and congestive heart failure.
How it works (Mechanism)?
It is a calcium channel blocker that works by inhibiting calcium release causing vasodilation which helps muscles to relax and regulates elevated blood pressure.

How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
1. It should be taken in dose of 5 mg once daily.
2. Maximum adult dose is 20 mg/ day.
3. If required dose may be increased with doctor's consultation.
4. It should be taken without food or a light meal.
5. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
6. If dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. Skip the dose if it is almost on the time for next dose.
7. Do not stop consumption of medication without doctor's consultation.
Side effects of medicine
It may show some common side effects which include dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, headache, flushing, or stomach upset.

It may interact with
- Other calcium channel blocker drug like verapamil
- Histamine H2-antagonist drug like cimetidine
- Anti-seizure drug like phenytoin
- Macrolide antibiotic drug like erythromycin
- Antifungal drug like ketoconazole
