What is it used for (Indication) ?
Ezetimibe is used in addition with diet and exercise in the management of hypercholesterolemia, homozygous sitosterolemia (phytosterolemia). It is also used in combination with other medication to treat mixed hyperlipidaemia.

It works by decreasing cholesterol absorption in the intestine.
What is Hypercholesterolemia, Homozygous, Sitosterolemia (phytosterolemia) (disease) ?
Hypercholesterolemia: It is the presence of high levels of cholesterol in the blood. It is not a disease; but it can contribute to many forms of disease, most notably cardiovascular disease.
Homozygous: It refers to the identical genes controlling a specified inherited trait.
Sitosterolemia (phytosterolemia): It is the presence of excessive sitosterols in the blood, especially β-sitosterol, from dietary vegetables.
Hyperlipidaemia: It is the presence of raised or abnormal levels of lipids and/or lipoproteins in the blood.
How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
The usual recommended dose is 10 mg once daily taken with or without food.
Side effects of medicine
This medication is generally well tolerated. Common side effects include abdominal pain, sinusitus, diarrhea, joint pain or back pain.
Interaction with other medicines
1. If you are using any other medication while taking this medicine such as warfarin, colesevelam, colestipol, gemfibrozil, lopid, lobifra, tricor, or antara.
2. If you are a regular consumer of alcohol.
Contraindications (Who should avoid this)
1. If you are hypersensitive to Ezetimibe or any other similar medications.
2. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
3. If you are breast feeding.
4. If you are a patient with liver disease, high liver enzymes, kidney disease, history of gallstones, or serious muscle problems.

1. Keep away from light and moisture.
2. Store at room temperature between 15° - 30° C (59° - 86° F).
