What is it used for (Indication) ?
It is used to alleviate symptom of intermittent claudication in individuals with peripheral vascular disease which causes muscle pain, ache, cramp, numbness and fatigue.
How it works (Mechanism)?
It is a selective inhibitor of 3-type phosphodiesterase which causes vasodilation, improves blood circulation, relieves pain and also blocks platelets to prevent blood clots formation.
What is disease ?
Intermittent claudication : It is a clinical diagnosis given for muscle pain (ache, cramp, numbness or sense of fatigue), classically in the calf muscle, which occurs during exercise and is relieved by a short period of rest.
Peripheral vascular disease : Also known as peripheral arterial disease or peripheral artery occlusive disease, is the obstruction of large arteries not within the coronary, aortic arch vasculature, or brain. It can result from atherosclerosis, inflammatory processes leading to stenosis, an embolism, or thrombus formation. It causes either acute or chronic ischemia (lack of blood supply).
How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
1. It should be taken in dose of 100 mg twice daily.
2. It should be taken at least half an hour before or two hours after dinner and breakfast.
3. If dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. Skip the dose if it is almost the time for next dose.
4. Do not stop consumption of medication without doctor's consultation.
Side effects of medicine
It may show some common side effects which include headache, diarrhea, nausea and dizziness.

- Antifungal drug like ketoconazole
- Macrolide antibiotic drug like erythromycin
- Calcium channel blocker drug like diltiazem
- Proton pump inhibitor drug like omeprazole

- If you are suffering from any liver, kidney or heart disease.

- Avoid alcohol, driving or using machinery as it may cause dizziness.
- Avoid grapefruit juice as it may increase the side effects of cilostazol.
Storage conditions
1. Keep away from light and moisture.
2. Store at room temperature between 15° - 30° C (59° - 86° F).
