What it is used for (Indication) ?
Azithromycin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as bronchitis; pneumonia; sexually transmitted diseases (STD); and infections of the ears, lungs, skin, and throat.

Azithromycin inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with their protein synthesis.
What is Infection ?
The infection includes :
1. Sexually transmitted infectious diseases: - i.e nongonococcal urethritis and cervicitis.
2. Otitis media -infection of the middle ear.
3. Throat infections: Tonsillitis or pharyngitis.
4. Respiratory infections, such as bronchitis.
5. Sinus infections - sinusitis.

How to take this medicine (Administration & Dosage) ?
For acute bacterial sinusitis recommended dosage is 500mg once daily for 3 days. It should be taken 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after a meal. Adult dose is 500mg in multiple or single doses. For most infections a tablet is taken once daily usually for five days.
Side effects of medicine
It is generally well tolerated. In fewer cases the mild side effects includes headache, dizziness, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or nausea.
